![]() BeSo (Betty Southerland, is a rebelliously-human artist who makes paintings, drawings, sculpture and mixed-media works exploring the human experience.
Mostly self-taught, BeSo has enjoyed a fulfilling career in graphic design, content creation and illustration for a variety of industries and nonprofits while independently studying and practicing art. In 2014, she began painting consistently, studying realism and creating work as an emerging figurative expressionist and portrait artist. In 2016, she began working with oil paints. She is a Saatchi contributor and a proud member of the Portrait Society of America who has had her work published (500 Tangled Artworks). She continues to paint live and show her work in and around Dallas, Texas. Betty was honored to be interviewed during a live painting performance at EarthX for an upcoming documentary film, Last Look at Eden which explores art in conservation. 2018. Her work also appeared at ADC Miami in 2014 via Hungry Castle/Laser Cat. Using a variety of creative thought processes with a bit of ridiculousness and truth, she attempts to engage the viewer with art.
